7 Easiest Jazz Instruments to Learn

This article will bring you to the list of the easiest jazz instrument to learn. Insider Monkey has recently published an interesting article about it giving you some advice. Although there are no limitations, jazz can be played on any instruments; there are some divisions in a jazz band for each instrument having a specific role. Typical division  of instruments in a jazz band is to the rhythm section and horn section as the most important and woodwind instruments, guitars, etc. Under the rhythm section are instruments like percussion, piano, and bass, which are the instruments giving the basis to the music in terms of rhythm and support by solid chords. Horn section is responsible for the main melodies and can consist of many instruments such as trumpet, jazz trombone, saxophone (although being a woodwind instrument), and voice.

Now without a further ado let’s see what Insider Monkey has investigated for us. We have picked three of the easiest jazz instrument to learn from their list.

The first one is trumpet. When starting playing a trumpet, you will need much breathing and lips exercises, and of course, a good hearing, since those are essentials in playing trumpet. Once you master those (and you will probably need some time), you will probably agree on trumpet being one of the easiest jazz instruments to learn. But that is only until you get a bit more relaxed with the instrument and start improvising. That is where all the fun starts. The second instrument is clarinet. Once you learn basics of the clarinet, which might take some time, get introduced to the clarinet in jazz. For that, you will need to learn some of the basic blues scales for a start and spend time on listening to jazz clarinetists like Benny Goodman and Artie Shaw to see what possibilities you might reach with playing jazz clarinet. Piano is the last one for today. The piano is somehow very often among the first choices for learning an instrument. Probably the transparency of keys (each key stands for one tone only) brings attraction. Yes, learning basic chords and scales might be easy, but learning piano at advanced levels is one challenging thing. As for jazz music, the piano is considered to belong to the rhythm section, so the rhythmic component  of playing piano jazz is the crucial one.
